AWM 1007

AWM 1007, PVC Insulated Single Conductor Appliance Wiring Material

UL AWM Style 1007 is the thin wall hook-up wire that sits inside appliances and electronic equipment. One conductor, 32 AWG to 16 AWG, solid or stranded, covered by an extruded PVC wall of 15 mils minimum average and 13 mils minimum at any point, rated 80°C and 300 Vac with horizontal flame. There is no jacket and no shield, so it belongs in protected internal wiring: between a board and a switch, a transformer secondary and a terminal block, a lamp holder and a harness. The 15 mil wall is what keeps the outside diameter small, from about 1.1 mm on 30 AWG to 2.4 mm on 16 AWG, which is why it is the default choice where a bundle has to pass through a narrow gap. The tag may carry a 600 V peak marking, but that applies to electronic use only, not to appliance supply. A 60°C or 80°C oil resistant grade is available when the wire runs near lubricant. Conductors are bare or tinned copper, colours are made to order, and the wire is UL and cUL recognised to UL 758.

Common questions about this flexible power cable

A single conductor with extruded PVC insulation, 32 AWG to 16 AWG, solid or stranded, rated 80°C and 300 Vac with horizontal flame. The insulation wall is 15 mils minimum average and 13 mils minimum at any point.

Internal wiring of appliances and electronic equipment, in protected runs where the wire is not subject to movement or mechanical damage. It is not a field wiring product and it is not a substitute for a jacketed cable on an external run.

Wall thickness and voltage. 1007 carries a 15 mil wall at 300 V and 80°C. 1015 carries a 30 mil wall at 600 V with 80°C, 90°C and 105°C ratings. If the circuit runs above 300 V, or the wire has to survive abrasion, 1015 is the one to specify.

Only as a peak rating for electronic use, which UL allows on the tag. It does not turn the wire into a 600 V appliance lead. For supply wiring at 600 V use AWM 1015 or 1028.

Yes. UL permits a 60°C or 80°C oil resistant grade. Say so on the order, because the compound and the marking change and the price moves with it.
