AWM 2464

AWM 2464, PVC Jacketed Multi-Conductor Appliance Wiring Material

UL AWM style 2464 is the multi-conductor PVC jacketed cable that has become the standard control, signal and low-voltage power cable inside and between electronic equipment. Two or more insulated singles are laid parallel or twisted, in flat, oval or round form, with optional fillers, a barrier layer, a shield or a braid, all closed in an extruded PVC jacket of 30 mils minimum average on cables up to 0.700 inch. The rating is 80°C and 300Vac with a cable flame requirement. It is ordered as 2, 3, 4, 6 or more cores, shielded or unshielded, in overall diameters to the drawing, with drain wire, foil, spiral or braided shields where the signal needs it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this flexible power cable

The internal wiring or external interconnection of electronic equipment: control, signal, audio and low voltage power runs between boards, sub-assemblies and boxes. Two or more insulated conductors are laid parallel or twisted inside an extruded PVC jacket, with fillers, a barrier, a shield or a braid as needed.

80°C and 300Vac with a cable flame requirement. The jacket wall depends on the diameter under the jacket: 30 mils minimum average up to 0.700 inch, rising through 45, 60, 80 and 110 mils as the cable gets larger.

Yes. Foil with a drain wire, spiral and braided shields are all available, along with unshielded constructions. Twisted pairs and groups of twisted conductors can also be cabled together, and the lay and the fillers are set by the drawing.

Two as a minimum, and the construction is written around the assembly rather than a fixed count, so 3, 4, 6, 8 and larger core counts are all built to order with the same jacket and rating rules. Mixed conductor sizes are permitted on the style page.
