AWM 2103

AWM 2103, PVC Jacketed Multi-Conductor Appliance Wiring Material

UL AWM Style 2103 is the multi-conductor member of the family: two or more insulated conductors, 30 AWG to 10 AWG, twisted into pairs, gathered into groups, or laid parallel as a flat, oval or round cable, then closed with an extruded PVC jacket. Rating is 105°C and 300 Vac with horizontal flame. The jacket is where the style differs from a single conductor: wall thickness is set by the diameter under the jacket, from 15 mils minimum average on anything up to 8.9 mm, stepping to 30, 45 and 60 mils as the cable grows. Shield, barrier layer, fillers and covering are all optional, so the same style number covers an unshielded control lead and a shielded sensor cable. Use is internal wiring, which is the one thing to keep in mind: 2103 belongs inside the enclosure. For an external run that sees sun and oil, the same construction with a heavier jacket is AWM 21894.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this flexible power cable

A multiple-conductor cable with a non-integral extruded PVC jacket, 105°C and 300 Vac with horizontal flame, using conductors from 30 AWG to 10 AWG. Two or more conductors, twisted pairs, groups or parallel lays are all permitted.

By the diameter under the jacket, not by the conductor size. Up to 8.9 mm the minimum average is 15 mils, from 8.9 to 17.8 mm it is 30 mils, from 17.8 to 25.4 mm 45 mils, and from 25.4 to 38.1 mm 60 mils. Minimum at any point is 80 percent of those values.

Yes. Shield, barrier layer, fillers, covering and an optional braid over the jacket are all permitted, so the same style covers shielded and unshielded builds. Tell us on the drawing which you need.

Internal wiring of appliances and equipment, inside an enclosure. It is not rated for external runs, sunlight or continuous oil. For those conditions use AWM 21894 on the same conductor range.

UL and cUL recognised to UL 758 as Appliance Wiring Material. The insulation on each conductor must itself be rated at least 105°C and 300 V and comply with the manufacturer's AWM procedure.
