Europe TUV EV Charging Cables

EN 50620 EV charging cables with halogen-free XLPO insulation and a halogen-free PUR sheath, TUV certified, covering the 300/500V single-phase EVC H05BZ5-F and the 450/750V three-phase EVC H07BZ5-F used on AC wallboxes, public charge points and portable charging leads.

EVC H05BZ5-F and EVC H07BZ5-F are the two EN 50620 charging cables for AC electric vehicle supply equipment, and the number in the designation is the only thing that separates them: H05BZ5-F is the 300/500V type, limited by the standard to 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm² three-core constructions and to mode 1 charging, while H07BZ5-F is the 450/750V type that carries three, four or five power cores from 1.5 mm² up to 35 mm² for mode 2 and mode 3 charging. Both use halogen-free cross-linked EVI-2 insulation over class 5 flexible copper, a halogen-free EVM-1 polyurethane sheath, and one or two 0.5 mm² or 1.0 mm² control and pilot cores for the charging handshake. Both are TUV certified to EN 50620 and IEC 62893, run at 90°C conductor temperature with a 250°C short-circuit rating, and stay flexible down to -40°C fixed and -35°C in handling, which is what a lead that is coiled, dropped and dragged across a forecourt has to survive.
Rating:
300/500V (H05BZ5-F), 450/750V (H07BZ5-F)
Plug Type:
-40°C to +90°C fixed, -35°C flexing, +250°C short circuit
Connector Type:

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Europe TUV EV Charging Cables

EN 50620 is the European standard for the halogen-free charging cable that runs between the supply point or charging station and the electric vehicle. It covers the insulation and sheath compounds, the class 5 copper conductor, the control and pilot cores, the 90°C conductor temperature and the flame, oil, UV and ozone tests, and it is matched by IEC 62893 outside Europe.

Voltage and what the standard allows each to do. H05BZ5-F is 300/500V, built as 3G1.5 or 3G2.5, and permitted only for mode 1 charging. H07BZ5-F is 450/750V, built from 3G1.5 to 5G6, and covers mode 1, mode 2 and mode 3 AC charging, which is why a wallbox or portable charging box lead has to use it.

TUV certification to EN 50620 and IEC 62893, CE marking and HAR harmonised approval, with test reports covering EN 60228 conductor resistance, EN 60332-1-2 flame propagation, EN 60811-404 oil resistance and the halogen-free assessment of EN 50525-1 Annex B.

The sheath is black as standard, with orange and yellow available on request, and it is printed with the EVC code designation, the power core count and size, the control core count and size, the rated voltage and the standard number, as EN 50620 clause 5.4 requires. The marking repeats at intervals of no more than 550 mm.

No. EN 50620 is an AC charging cable standard for modes 1 to 3 of EN 61851-1. DC fast charging uses a different cable family built to GB/T 33594 in China or to the applicable UL and IEC DC standards, with larger power cores and a different temperature profile, and those are quoted separately.
