What is an Italian Type L (CEI 23-50) to IEC 60320 C5 cloverleaf laptop power cord?

This cord has a Type L (CEI 23-50) mains plug and an IEC 60320 C5 (cloverleaf or Mickey-Mouse) connector, rated 10A 250V, used to power a laptop AC adapter or compact device. It is certified to IMQ.

Which laptops and devices use an IEC C5 connector?

C5 is widely used on laptop power bricks, some monitors, projectors and compact power supplies needing a grounded inlet. It mates with the C6 appliance inlet.

Is the C5 connector grounded, and how does it differ from C7?

Yes. C5 is a three-wire grounded connector, while C7 is a two-wire, non-earthed figure-8 connector. Use the connector that physically matches the appliance inlet.

Does this cord convert voltage or frequency?

No. It only delivers power to the adapter; the power supply performs any voltage conversion. The cord itself is certified to IMQ.

What standard does this Italian cord meet, and what is CEI 23-50?

CEI 23-50 is the national standard the cord is manufactured and tested against; it defines the plug dimensions, pin layout and safety requirements for the target market. The certified cord carries the IMQ approval and is supplied to that standard.

What finishes can you supply on the opposite end?

The cable can be left stripped, tinned or crimped with terminals, with the strain relief sized to suit the cord. See power cord wire end options for the differences.
