What is a Swiss Type J power cord with bare, stripped wire ends?

This cord has a moulded Type J rated 10A 250V on a 2-wire, non-earthed cable for double-insulated Class II appliances. The equipment end is supplied with the outer jacket removed and both conductors stripped, ready to wire into the appliance or terminal block. It is certified to SEV.

How do I connect the stripped bare ends to my equipment?

Feed the two stripped conductors into the appliance terminal block or cord clamp, tighten the screws and secure the strain relief so the cable cannot pull loose. Ends can also be supplied tinned or pre-fitted with ring or fork terminals.

Can this 2-wire cord be used in place of a grounded 3-wire cord?

No. A 2-wire, non-earthed cord is only for double-insulated Class II appliances and must never replace an earthed cord on equipment needing a protective-earth connection.
