A junction box for the point where the trailer harness meets the trailer. The busbar inside is tinned copper on a moulded base, with one stud for the incoming feed and a terminal for each circuit, so the harness does not end in a bundle of crimps behind the frame rail.

The lid screws down over the terminals and the cable entries are fitted with rubber grommets, with solid plugs for the entries that stay empty. Two ears on the body take screws into a frame rail, a deck or a battery box.

Where it fits

Trailer and flatbed wiring where a harness has to be joined to the trailer circuits, and for anyone rebuilding a trailer loom on the bench. Also used on boat trailers and on small 12 V distribution jobs where a labelled terminal point is easier to service than a taped joint.

What to check before you wire it

Check the current that will pass through the feed stud. The box is rated for 30 A on the feed, which covers a trailer charge line with the brakes and the lights running, but a winch or a set of work lights should have its own feed rather than sharing this one.

Check the entry positions against the harness before mounting. Five entries reach the busbar without crossing the lid screws, and routing the cable across a screw boss makes the lid hard to close.

Build options

The box can be supplied with a printed circuit label under the lid to match the trailer functions, with a clear lid for inspection, or with studs instead of barrels on the heavier circuits. Private label work covers the lid label and the packing.
