The molded plug is keyed, so the cord only enters the socket one way, and the latch on the body holds it there until the tab is pressed. Nothing in the plug needs re-torquing after installation.

This cord sits on the trailer side of the connection. One end carries the molded 7-way plug, the other is cut square and stripped back so it can land in a junction box, a trailer harness or a terminal strip. The plug body is molded straight onto the cord, so there is no screw joint to work loose on a washboard road or to take water on a wet day.
Seven cores run through one round black jacket. Two of them are 10 AWG for the ground and the 12 V charge line, the brake pair is 12 AWG, and the four lighting circuits are 14 AWG. The jacket is thick enough to survive being dragged over a hitch and a bumper every time the trailer is dropped, and the cores are stranded so the cord still bends in cold weather.
Utility, boat, horse and stock trailers, flatbeds, car haulers, dump trailers and travel trailers that plug into the 7-pin blade socket on the tow vehicle. The bare end suits a trailer with an existing junction box, a harness that has been cut, or a new deck where the wiring is built on the bench rather than bought as a kit.
Match the plug to the socket on the tow vehicle before the order goes in. A 7-way blade plug will not mate with a round pin SAE J560 socket, and the two look similar in a photograph. Send a picture of the socket face or the old plug if there is any doubt, and the pinout drawing of the harness if the trailer was wired to something other than the standard layout.
Check which conductor feeds the brakes on the old cord as well. The colours below are the common trailer code, and the cord can be built to a different code at no extra cost if the trailer in the shop uses one.
Lengths from 3 ft to 12 ft are held as standard and anything outside that range is cut to order, measured from the back of the plug to the cut end. Jacket colour, printed text on the jacket and the wire colour code can all be changed, and a private label can be molded into the plug body on larger runs.
