The molded plug is keyed, so the cord only enters the socket one way, and the latch on the body holds it there until the tab is pressed. Nothing in the plug needs re-torquing after installation.

The cord arrives already landed in the box. Each conductor is cut to length, stripped and landed on its own terminal on the busbar, and the cable enters through a rubber grommet so the jacket is not cut on the box edge. The joint that normally takes the most time on a trailer build is done before the parts are packed.
The box has seven terminations, one feed stud for a fresh 12 V line and one barrel for every circuit the cord carries. The lid screws down over the terminals, there are five sealed cable entries with blanking plugs for the entries that stay empty, and two mounting ears take the box onto a frame rail or a deck.
Six of the seven images on this page are the same harness from different angles, with the lid on and with the lid off, so the terminal layout can be checked against the trailer before the order.
Trailer builds and refits where the trailer already has a junction box on the frame, and for anyone replacing a harness that was spliced with crimps wrapped in tape. Also used where the box is mounted on the trailer and the cord is the only part that reaches the tow vehicle.
Look at the terminal markings inside the box and compare them with the function of each circuit on the trailer. The terms differ between makers, so the harness can be built with a printed label panel that matches the trailer manual if one is supplied with the order.
Check the box mounting position against the cord run. The cord leaves the box through a grommet and should not be bent tighter than about four times its own diameter at that point, otherwise the jacket can crack over the seasons.
The box can be supplied with a clear lid, a solid lid or a lid with an access flap, and the number of cable entries can be changed. Terminal studs can be fitted instead of barrels on the heavier circuits if the trailer uses eyelet lugs. Private label work covers the lid label and the packing.
