A replacement plug for a trailer harness that has been torn off, corroded or cut short. The body is molded in one piece around the blade set, the latch on the side locks into the socket so the cord cannot work out on rough ground, and the flange takes two screws where the harness is fixed to the frame or to a junction box.

The blade set is the 7-way layout, one round center pin with six flat blades around it, and the housing is keyed so the plug only enters the socket one way. Contacts are brass, and the cable end is sealed with a grommet when the cord is assembled.

Where it fits

Repairs on trailers that have lost the plug, new harness builds, and service work where the old connector has overheated at the terminals. Also used by rebuilders who crimp their own cord to length instead of buying a finished cord.

What to check before you wire it

Compare the blade set against the socket on the tow vehicle before ordering. A 7-way blade plug and a round pin SAE J560 plug are the same diameter at the housing, and the only difference that matters is at the face.

Check the cord gauge that will be crimped into the plug as well. If the harness uses 8 AWG on the charge line, tell us at the enquiry and the terminal barrels can be opened to suit.

Build options

Supplied on its own, or assembled on a cord of any length with the plug molded in place. The latch, the grommet and the flange can be changed to match a socket from another maker if a drawing or a sample is supplied.

Common questions about 7-Way RV Trailer Plug

Brass, in a body molded in one piece around the blade set. The latch on the side locks into the socket and is part of the body, and the cable end is sealed with a grommet when the cord is assembled.

The blade set follows the 7-way RV (SAE J2863) layout, so it mates with sockets built to the same standard. Where a socket differs, the latch, the grommet and the flange can be changed to match if a drawing or a sample is supplied.

It is supplied either on its own, for a harness that has lost its plug or overheated at the terminals, or assembled on a cord of any length with the plug molded in place. The flange takes two screws where the harness is fixed to the frame or to a junction box.
