The molded plug is keyed, so the cord only enters the socket one way, and the latch on the body holds it there until the tab is pressed. Nothing in the plug needs re-torquing after installation.

The socket is the fixed half of the pair. It mounts through a two screw flange on the back of a tow vehicle, on a trailer frame or on a light bar, and the hinged cover closes over the contacts when the cord is unplugged so rain and road grit stay out of the blade set.
The contacts are set in a keyed round housing, so the plug can only seat one way, and the latch tab on the side holds it there. The back of the body is sealed where the harness enters, and the terminals are screw type so the harness can be landed without a special crimp tool.
Tow vehicle wiring on pickups and vans that were not built with a trailer package, trailer mounted receptacles where the cord is stored on the trailer, and light bars or licence plate brackets that carry a socket at the back.
Check the clearance behind the mounting flange before drilling. The body needs room for the harness to enter straight, and a socket bolted hard against a bumper will not let the plug latch engage.
Check which side the cover opens on if the socket sits close to a tail light or a jack. The cover is hinged on one side only, and the hinge side can be specified on an order.
Also available with a spring steel cover instead of the hinged plastic one, with a longer lead or with a moulded cord already fitted. Tell us the vehicle or the trailer model and the harness can be built with the right plug on the other end for a plug and play fit.
