IEC 60320 is an international standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), titled "Appliance couplers for household and similar general purposes". It specifies the dimensional, electrical, and safety requirements for couplers used to connect power supply cords to electrical appliances, covering voltages up to 250 V a.c. and currents up to 16 A. The standard is divided into several parts, with the most important being IEC 60320‑1 (General requirements), which has undergone multiple revisions: the first edition was published in 1994, the second in 2001, the third in 2015, and the latest effective edition is the fourth edition, IEC 60320‑1:2021, released on 27 July 2021. Additional parts include IEC 60320‑2‑X series for specific applications (e.g., sewing machine couplers, couplers with higher IP ratings) and IEC 60320‑3 for standard sheets and gauges.

A C13/C14 double-ended cord is a ready-made, 3-core earthed jumper with a C14 male plug on one end (upstream, into the PDU/UPS/outlet) and a C13 female connector on the other (downstream, into the server or monitor), rated 10 A at 125/250 V and 70 °C for rack patching and short extensions.

Use a C13/C14 jumper inside a rack to extend from a PDU or UPS C13 outlet to C14-inlet equipment without going back to a wall socket; it carries the same 10 A, 70 °C earthed rating and keeps power cabling within the cabinet.

It can be built on 3-core 0.5–1.5 mm² conductors using H03VV-F, RVV, YZ, YZW, H05VV-F, H05RR-F; choose a heavier gauge for long runs or full-load equipment to avoid voltage drop and heating, and specify the wall-plug end for the destination country.

The C13/C14 interface is found on desktop PCs, monitors, servers, printers and network gear (the common kettle lead), with this connector on the cord-set side.
