The inlet or the receptacle is factory fitted to the enclosure, so the installer only brings the feeder to the terminals inside. Cover, gasket and plugged cable entries are supplied with the box.

This inlet box takes a NEMA L5-30P plug, the three-wire 30 amp 125V locking connector. Live, neutral and ground go through the wall to the panel, and the locking ring holds the generator cord in place.
It is the single-voltage version of the 30 amp inlet: one 125V leg, no second hot. That suits a generator feeding lighting, outlets, a fridge, a sump pump or a furnace blower, and it is the cheaper box to wire because only three conductors leave it.
Cabins and small houses on a 120V standby generator, food trucks, market stalls and workshops where the load list is all 120V. Any 30 amp generator with an L5-30R outlet matches it directly.
Do not order this one if anything on the standby list needs 240V. A water pump, a welder or a dryer on 240V needs the four-wire L14-30 inlet instead, and the two boxes are not interchangeable.
Check the generator outlet first: L5-30R at the generator and L5-30P at the box, and a cord rated for 30 amp. The cover has to close over the plug while the set is running, so site the box where the cord can hang without pulling on the collar.
ETL listed. Samples are available, production runs start at 200 to 1000 pieces with 15 to 20 working days after the order and artwork are confirmed, and private label covers the enclosure label and the packing.
Common questions about 30 Amp Generator Power Inlet Box, NEMA L5-30P
Everything on the standby list that runs on 120V: lighting, outlets, a fridge, a freezer, a furnace blower or a sump pump. The limit is the 30 amp total and the single voltage, so nothing that needs 240V can be fed from it.
Any set with an L5-30R outlet, over a three-wire 30 amp locking cord. That is the common 120V 30 amp outlet on smaller portable generators and on marine sets.
No. A trailer inlet is a TT-30R receptacle, and a trailer cord will not fit an L5-30P inlet. For a trailer or a coach, order one of the outlet boxes in this range instead.
It is one conductor fewer: live, neutral and ground leave the box. That keeps the run cheaper and the terminations simpler, but it also means the building is a 120V installation while the generator is connected, which has to match what the occupants expect to keep working.
Yes. The spring-hinged cover closes over the cord while the set runs, so the receptacle stays out of the rain. Let the cord hang with a drip loop below the box rather than pulling sideways on the locking collar.
