What is an IEC C18 appliance inlet?

The C18 is the 2-pole, unearthed male appliance inlet rated 10 A at 250 V and 70 C that receives a C17 connector. It is the ungrounded counterpart of the C14 inlet and is fitted to double-insulated (Class II) power tools, motors and appliances rated up to 10 A that have no protective-earth terminal.

How is a C18 inlet different from a C14 inlet?

Both share the 10 A IEC sheet size, but the C14 is a three-pole earthed inlet whereas the C18 has only line and neutral contacts with no earth pin. A C18 is used exclusively on Class II equipment; earthed devices use C14, and the two should not be interchanged across safety classes.

Which cord connector mates with a C18 inlet?

The C17 female cord connector is the designated mate for a C18 inlet. A C13 may physically fit in some cases, but the certified pairing is C17-to-C18 for an unearthed 10 A circuit, and using the correct coupler preserves the equipment's safety approval.

Is a C18 inlet available as a panel-mount or rewireable part?

Yes. C18 inlets are produced as snap-in or screw panel-mount connectors with quick-connect or screw terminals, and as rewireable inline connectors, for manufacturers building Class II tools and appliances. Select the terminal style and confirm the 10 A/250 V, 70 C rating for the application.
